Amani School Progress Report 2010-2011

Celebration dance

Congratulations little graduates

Greetings friends,
We are pleased to bring you an impressive progress report from Kenya while organizing the 5th Annual Child Sponsorship Program. The children are doing great and the schools growth has been immense.
The Bouter family/building sponsor continues to visit and provide additional funding to meet the schools growing construction needs. The enrollment has superseded all our expectations from its original 16 students studying under a tree, to 250 students studying in a clean and safe learning environment. The school is supporting 13 teachers plus the last classrooms and additional restrooms are being built now. This is the final phase which will complete the project to include 8 classrooms, 4 toilets, water well, kitchen, dining hall/community center and office. See photos included of this years graduation ceremony and construction progress.

New Classrooms
I recently re-read my blogs, reports and letters from our initial phases of building Amani School five years ago and remember feeling both success and defeat with an unstable future. I can only praise this group of teachers, directors, parents and financers and conclude that combined, their determination could build an empire. These last years have been difficult in Maweni village with famine, violence, destruction and economic failure. Yet, Amani School continues to press forward in the face of hunger, fear and poverty to bring education and structure to their little part of our shared world. We are very proud of them all.
And to those who sponsor a child or would like to sponsor a child please see the contribution information below and contact Brian and Brenda for more information.
